Clinical Communications Specialist - Lifeline Paramedic

Description

The Clinical Communications Specialist - Lifeline Paramedic is a member of the LifeLine team who works with the Communications Center to help triage patients to the correct level of medical transport care, communicates with ground and flight crews, provides flight/ground following and communications, assists with quality improvement measures, coordinates daily resources and assists with a variety of short and long-term projects. The Clinical Communications Specialist works collaboratively with other team members to deliver the safest and highest quality patient and family centered care possible during the patient transportation process. The Clinical Communications Specialist works within the standards of all governing and regulatory bodies for medical transportation, the aviation vendor operations manual and all Federal Aviation Administration rules and regulations.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Certified Flight Paramedic advanced certification strongly encouraged within 18 months of hire.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 to be obtained with initial probationary period.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of Critical Care experience, five (5) years preferred.
  • Critical Care Transport experience is strongly encouraged.
  • Communications Center experience preferred.
  • Requires excellent communication skills.
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of communications equipment and technology; and knowledge of transportation responsibilities in order to give and receive critical information accurately.
  • Ability to make independent, clinically and operationally competent decisions in a challenging work environment.
  • Ability to work in a sometimes; loud, distracting, and stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain professional and friendly communication with customers, peers, and leadership at all times.
  • Ability to demonstrate scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of the department to cover sick call offs, vacation / PTO, open position vacancies and other needs.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 20-30 words per minute.
  • Ability to work with computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and the LifeLine Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Computer literate and able to learn new programs including e-mail and text messaging.
  • Capable of hearing, understanding, and speaking clearly for others to understand; face to face, via telephone, and via radio.
  • Develops and maintains flexibility with changes to the department requirements, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
  • Determines own learning needs and seeks those skills to develop.
  • Requires successful completion of a Communications Center orientation program upon hire.
