Description

This position exists to perform light preventative maintenance of the Mobile Intensive Care Units and assess a variety of patient care electric, mechanical and electromechanical patient care systems and equipment within the department. Tracks and reports fiscal management pertaining to acquisition, usage and repair of all ambulance assets within the department. The position provides input into the development of departmental policies and procedures relative to ambulance preventative maintenance and operations. This position also provides technical knowledge of mechanical or electrical issues for ambulance as a problem solver, troubleshooter, project manager, and resource person, and to develop and execute projects to improve the reliability of equipment and systems within the transport program.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Requires current state of Indiana driver's license.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification for Ambulance (EVTC- Ambulance) within 18 months of hire.
  • Requires current state of Indiana driver's license.
  • Prefer ASE or other mechanic designation for diesel engine repair and maintenance.
  • Requires knowledge of EMS codes and regulations.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of basic mechanics; ability to read and interpret blueprints; schematics and service manuals.
  • Requires ability to operate basic mechanical hand tools.
  • Requires prior experience with equipment maintenance; trouble-shooting and repair assessment.
  • Requires initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires ability to perform multiple tasks.
  • Requires familiarity with equipment and supplies.
  • Requires basic understanding of infection control.
  • Requires ability to read maps.
  • Requires familiarity with CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) standards.
