Description

This position exists to provide functional guidance to staff and to perform duties of the area's major work functions. This position also coordinates scheduling, training, and inventory duties. Under the direction of a radiologist and administrative technologist and with the supervision of a department manager, performs CT, MRI, interventional, nuclear or ultrasound radiographic procedures for radiological diagnosis. Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to meet customer needs appropriate to the age and developmental level of the populations served.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Requires current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and the Indiana Department of Health; or with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the ARRT with a specialty in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Requires advanced certification in the modality that is being managed (CT, MRI, IR or Ultrasound).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires ability to explain instructions in simple terminology.
  • Requires ability to organize and process a high volume of work within established standards.
  • Requires knowledge of RIS for training and problem resolution.
  • Requires knowledge of PACs for training and problem resolution.
  • Requires knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
  • Requires knowledge of principles of radiographic technique and production.
  • Requires independent judgment.
  • Requires ability to operate complex instruments and equipment.
  • Requires knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
