Description

The Pharmacy Technician will assume responsibility for providing comprehensive non-judgmental functions related to medication management. The employee will assist Clinical Pharmacists with all functions related to the practice of Pharmacy and clerical duties. The employee will be committed to providing lawful, compassionate, efficient, safe, and cost effective use of medications. The employee will pledge to collaborate with and support all our customers.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Current pharmacy technician training permit or pharmacy intern license in good standing with the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy required, pharmacy technician license for state of Indiana preferred.
  • BLS Certification.
  • One year of hospital experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws.
  • Must practice within the guidelines of hospital policies and procedures, HFAP standards, and other legal and ethical standards.
  • Handles multiple priorities.
  • Makes decisions under pressure.
  • Manages stress appropriately.
  • Works well alone or with others effectively.
  • Works in a distracting environment.
  • Pays close attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
  • Knowledge of procedures for operating automated dispensing machines.
  • Computer skills, typing skills, and mathematic skills.
  • Good communication skills necessary to provide drug information to our customers.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
