Apply for a Data Architect role with IU Health! This position will work M-F approx 8-5pm and will be located in Indianapolis (with remote opportunities throughout the week). This will be part of the Enterprise Analytics- Data Management department within the Data Engineering Team. #LI-SLI

Summary

The qualified candidate must have in-depth technical experience analyzing system and database requirements, as well as implementing analysis methods for existing data. You will leverage your knowledge of healthcare terminology standards, understanding of the healthcare context and use cases and operational datastores to build out standardized data models. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with analyzing mission critical databases across multiple database platforms and must be comfortable with developing database modeling solutions to ensure patients' healthcare information is stored effectively and securely for AnalytixIN project.

Position Description:

  • Engage with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to clarify and document business definitions which lead to definitions of standardized concepts that can be organized into data models. 
  • Review and Document requirements - in the form of stakeholders, product features, information needs, and navigation flows across various sub-products and stakeholders.
  • Review and monitor existing data definitions in Database Schemas, data distributions captured in current operational systems.
  • Create data dictionaries and validate terminologies for consistency and coverage (completeness) - based on feedback from stakeholders and running test queries and reports.
  • Collaborate with members of Data Management teams to map terminology concepts into data values in the database systems. 
  • Identify Industry Standards, standardize and cross-mapping databases using common data models such as OMOP, HL7 FHIR, or OMOP on FHIR, to achieve Interoperability.
  • Documentation of database modeling, common data model mapping, data dictionary creation.
  • Collaborate with members of the data platform team to identify downstream impacts whenever there’s addition/deletion/modification of concepts.
  • Lead architectural discussions and design exercises to build and automate large scale databases (big data).
  • Create Deidentification model for consumption.
  • Architect, design and oversee the development of the database modeling.
  • Optimize new and current database systems.
  • Ensures data integrity and security for use in research and Data Science projects.
  • Able to analyze big data and create data extracts.

 

Position requirements:

  • In-depth relevant experience performing duties outlined above with progressive responsibility.
  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Sr. Data Analyst, Data Engineer or similar roles. 
  • Experience in a healthcare setting with deep exposure to Payer and Provider oriented terminologies (Nice to Have).
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare Ecosystem and Use Cases - e.g., Care Workflows, Careplans, Prior Auth, Population Health, Segmentation/Stratification, Risk Computation, etc. (Nice to Have).
  • Experience with Clinical Information Models - FHIR (Preferred), OMOP (Preferred), OMOP on FHIR (Nice to Have).
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of Terminology Standards such as ICD10, CPT, Snomed, LOINC, RXNorm (Must Have), ERGs, RERGs, DRGs (Nice to Have). 
  • Comprehensive understanding of database design principles, data mining and big data.
  • Working knowledge of SOLID development principles
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Must have structured design, development, and implementation of new computing architectures
  • Experience with history tables, fact vs. dimension tables (slowly changing dimensions, SCD type 2), Git and Source Control, Azure cloud, Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse, Python, Spark, Databricks.
  • Expertise in SQL
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, Power BI
  • Must be able to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers within the team and across teams.
  • Must demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines
  • Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Must be able to adapt to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in computer science, information systems, Mathematics, MIS or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience required
  • Must have experience working with Scrum and Agile Development methods
  • Must have strong Oral and Written Communication skills
  • Must have strong experience working within Agile Teams as well as Waterfall teams
  • Must have Excellent Relationship Management skills
  • Requires knowledge of EA frameworks and design tools.
  • Requires deep expertise in at least one technology domain.
