Overview
The Chief Mission & Values Officer (CMVO) is nominated by the Methodist Health Group and jointly appointed by the President/CEO of IU Health and the IU Health Board of Directors. The person in this role leads alongside the CEO and IU Health Board Committee on Values, Ethics and Social Responsibility as they monitor and implement the values of IU Health in all aspects of organizational life.
This incumbent must be a visionary leader who knows how to effectively drive change in a complex and distributed yet system-oriented environment. Serving on the CEO’s executive team, this leader works with senior leadership and front-line team members, executes organizational development strategy and drives change initiatives across the system to optimize organizational potential and achieve strategic and operational objectives.
This leader must embody IU Health’s mission, embrace its vision, and lead through respect, humility, and intellectual curiosity. The individual will be knowledgeable and engaged with the United Methodist Church both nationally and locally, representing the church’s commitment to healthcare as described in THE BOOK OF DISCIPLINE and THE BOOK OF RESOLUTIONS.
The CMVO provides direction to ensure continuous community engagement, ethical practice, quality spiritual and pastoral care, and effective philanthropy within the organization and throughout the communities where IU Health is located. The CMVO oversees the work of the department of chaplaincy, spiritual care and congregational partnerships, IU Health Foundation, system archives department, Dan F. Evans Center for Spiritual and Religious Values in Healthcare, the department of clinical and organizational ethics, and the Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics. This will be demonstrated by:
