Job Description

Overview

Interacts closely with varying levels of the International Patient Services (IPS) Department. Collaborates with physicians, clinicians, support staff and administrators from multiple divisions and departments, both internally and externally of IU Health, regarding international patients' whole care, including but not limited to their immediate and continual care plan. Provides case coordination and management support for initial and ongoing care of international patients until medically discharged to return to their home country. Maintains and cultivates relationships with hospitals, acute inpatient/outpatient rehabilitation, long term acute care and skilled nursing facilities, pharmacy, durable medical equipment, dental and air ambulance. Assists with preparing cost estimates and financial summaries, ensures the patient/family member is informed about scheduled appointments/procedures, and monitors patient clinical activity daily. Ensures internal tracking entries are accurate and provides financial coverage documentation to IU Health Revenue Cycle Services. Prepares monthly program statistics and assists with training new employees and other duties as assigned.
 Bachelor's Degree required (e.g., Healthcare, Business) or equivalent years of experience.
• Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of experience in healthcare/hospital setting, case management, care coordinator and/or utilization review that involved significant interaction with patients and/or clinical personal; international healthcare experience preferred.
• Requires experience communicating and collaborating with physicians, clinical and administrative teams.
• Requires knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Requires fluency in English and Arabic with ability to speak, read and write proficiently and effectively in both languages.
• Requires knowledge of healthcare referral, scheduling and admission systems in the U.S.
• Working knowledge of and proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
