Job Description

Overview

Guided by the IU health values – Compassion, Team, Excellence, and Purpose – the Administrative Assistant will provide support to our medical and surgical oncology teams by performing administrative tasks and ensuring high quality customer service to our patients. 

Administrative Assistants will assist with scheduling, patient communication, and handle documentation with confidentiality.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate and assist patient care teams to ensure adequate medical information is available for patient appointments
  • Assist with prior authorizations for medications and procedures
  • Provide detail oriented communication and documentation
  • Assist with preparing patient charts for clinic visits
  • Data collection and entry
  • Assist team member with covering tasks on high volume days
  • Assist team member with coverage when scheduled and/or non-scheduled absences occur
  • Attend and participate in unit and house wide committees for process improvements, daily huddles, and scheduled staff meetings

Hours are:  Monday thru Friday 8-4:30 – no nights, no weekends, and no major holidays. Preferred clinical work experience, medical terminology & understanding of medical record requirements, regulations, and policies. 


 High School Diploma/GED required.
•Requires 0-3+ years relevant experience; previous administrative experience preferred.
• Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment a plus.
• Requires basic proficiency in MS office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
