Job Description

Overview

The Practice Administrator-Orthopedic Surgery plans and directs the operational activities of the medical practices operated by the organization. This leader oversees adherence to the organization policies and proper communication to and involvement of team members regarding Practice Operations. The Practice Administrator plans, organizes and directs daily operations to include staffing, practice growth and improvement, financial performance, and customer service. This leader is accountable for operational and financial performance results of medical practices.

This role will be responsible for adult and pediatric orthopedic services in downtown Indianapolis at Methodist, University, Riley and Eskenazi Hospitals.

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or other closely related field.
  • Master of Health Administration or Master of Business Administration degree preferred.
  • Requires 7-10 years of experience as a Health Professional. Experience with a physician group practice highly desired.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively more responsible related work experience in an ambulatory setting with three to five years of concurrent management experience in order to gain knowledge of administration and operation of physician practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of health care delivery and management, basic accounting and finance, and health care legislation.
  • Requires knowledge of benchmarking and Best Practice research.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications is required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Prefers Cerner and Microsoft Teams experience
  • Prefers experience with change management and managing teams.
  • Prefers flexible and adaptable leader that is easily approachable and highly organized.

Reports to: Vice Chair of Clinical and Academic Administration-Department of Orthopedic Surgery

Direct Reports: 1 Riley Practice Manager, 1 Methodist Practice Manager, 1 Sports Med Practice Manager, 6 Support Staff, 18 Physicians
