Overview

We are currently offering and Relocation and Sign-On bonus to eligible candidates! Experienced RNs apply today! 

The Surgical Progressive Care Unit [SPCU] at our magnet-designated University Hospital offers a fast-paced, encouraging learning environment where we embrace teamwork and collaboration with all disciplines of the patient’s care team. The monitored 34 bed unit serves a very diverse population of surgical oncology patients which include; ENT/head & neck, Thoracic, Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, Urology, Colorectal and Plastic surgery.

This environment allows nurses to gain and improve advanced critical thinking skills, and sharpen their hands-on expertise at the same time. SPCU care requires:

  • Current nursing license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana required.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nursing program accredited through the ACEN or CCNE.
  • Certifications consistent with clinical area requirements.
  • Experience level to support a highly skilled ability to lead and to provide effective clinical reasoning, decision-making and clinical thinking.
  • A high standard of interpersonal, negotiation, collaboration, problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to maintain quality-working relationships.
  • Ability to recognize and respect cultural diversity.
  • Dedication to goal-directed, quality patient care outcomes.
  • Ability to plan and manage resource utilization.
  • Ability to maintain standards of patient confidentiality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills, with special emphasis on patient/family-centered care.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
  • Ability to take initiative and plan care toward quality patient outcomes.
