IU Health Methodist Hospital’s Center of Hope offers private, individual, compassionate care by a specially trained forensic nurse to victims of a violent crime. The Center of Hope sees currently 1600 patients a year that are victims of sexual assaults, domestic violence, physical assaults, elder abuse, child abuse, and human trafficking. Forensic nurses collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of hospital staff, law enforcement, local shelters and advocacy centers to provide the patient with holistic patient care and support while caring for the unique needs of these individuals. Forensic physical assessment, evidence collection, forensic documentation/photography, and courtroom testimony are all unique skills learned while working in this detailed oriented and continuously changing environment. The Center of Hope is known for its commitment to continuous learning and offers a more autonomous nursing practice environment. Our Forensic nurses are involved in the community by teaching others the aspects of forensic nursing through our professional organizations and forming a collaborative working relationship with these individuals.
Hours: 6pm-6am, no weekends. Night Shift/Part-time
