Overview

Exciting opportunity to work with passionate, committed, high expertise IU Health Transplant Team helping give over 500 individuals per year the opportunity of life.

A Financial Transplant Coordinator position exists to provide a clinical interface to the financial issues associated with solid organ transplantation. Per UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing), each transplant center shall have set aside a person who's responsibility is to assure minimum financial barriers to transplant services. Institutional Purpose} insuring all patients gain the highest level of financial coverage while the facility maintains optimum reimbursement. Incumbent serves as a clinical liaison from the Transplant Center to the various insurance payor case managers and medical directors, insures medical necessity of the transplant procedure is acquired when required by payers, intervenes in cases where care is restricted due to network issues, and advocates for patients rights for continuous and appropriate healthcare. Incumbent serves as interdepartmental link between transplant clinical team and various financial and management departments associated with reimbursement and regulatory concerns, i . e . governmental services, billing, as well as entities affiliated with, but outside the organization's employment, such as physician groups involved in the transplant process. By nature of this unique position as a resource, the Transplant Financial Coordinator maintains on-call responsibilities.


  Requires current state of Indiana license as a Registered Nurse. Prefers current certification as a Case Manager which dictates experience in managed care; utilization review; & / or care coordinator/ case management. Requires and maintains working knowledge of state and federal regulations related to our patient population; as well as Standards of Practice for Case Management.
• Requires the ability to identify and communicate cost and quality issues related to the transplant evaluation and listing process to medical and non-medical professionals as well as patients.
• Requires ability to communicate and resolve conflict with physicians; health care team members; business/managed care/governmental services and agencies; as well as insurance company decision makers; and self- funded employer decision makers; and human resource departments; and transplant patients and donors.
• Requires ability to facilitate professional working relationship with clinical transplant team; business office team; and transplant administration to best facilitate process changes.
• Requires ability to complete job duties autonomously.
• Requires knowledge of computer skills.
• Requires demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires strong customer service skills; initiative; and ability to develop/implement creative solutions to unique situations.
