This inpatient position involves providing genetic counseling and coordinating genomic care for critically ill newborns admitted to the Riley Children’s Hospital Level IV NICU as well others on our inpatient service which includes in the PICU, CVICU, and area hospitals. In this role the genetic counselor will be part of a robust care team involved in assessing the risk of genetic disorders, will assist with test coordination including obtaining consent for testing, and will provide genetic counseling after tests have resulted. This role also involves educating other health professionals, patients and families about genetic diseases and hereditary disorders, treatment options and risk factors as well as the need to identify and provide available community resources. In addition, you will have the opportunity to provide supervision of genetic counseling graduate students as well as other learners. Experienced counselors as well as those who are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program for genetic counseling with anticipated graduation in the spring of 2023 are welcome to apply.
