Job Description


The Director of Clinical Operations for Emergency Services for the South Central Region provides administrative direction to the multi-disciplinary care center with an emphasis on quality management and enhanced customer service. The Director will have operational oversight of Bloomington Hospital's Emergency Department (54 bed unit) as well as strategic oversight over Emergency Services for Bedford and Paoli Hospitals. This leader is responsible for providing leadership in all facets of patient care, in partnership with a Medical Director, and is accountable for the initiation and completion of business and unit plans that ensure quality while utilizing available resources efficiently. The Director is accountable for alignment of the care center vision with the organization mission, values and excellence goals (people, service, financial, clinical). This leader is responsible for 24-hour accountability. 

Reports to: Associate Chief Nursing Officer, South Central Region

Direct Reports: 5 Managers and 2 Clinical Nurses, with approximate roll-up of ~250 FTEs

  • Masters of Nursing or related field is required or actively enrolled.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires completion Clinical Specialty Professional Certification within 1 year upon meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification highly desired.
  • Requires 7-10 years of relevant experience. Experience leading Emergency Services strongly preferred.
