IU Health University Hospital's Organ Transplant Units are progressive care and intensive care units providing highly specialized care for kidney, pancreas, liver, intestine, and multi visceral transplant recipients as well as living kidney donors.
Nurses in this unit gain expertise in managing the transplant patients in nationally ranked transplant programs and Magnet hospital. The Magnet hospital designation, a hospital-wide award for nurses, recognizes excellence in nursing services and high-quality clinical outcomes for patients.
IU Health Transplant is the 7th largest center by total volume of transplants performed in 2016. The pancreas, liver and intestine transplant programs are ranked in the top 5 in the nation. This unit is the proud recipient of the 2017 IU Health Quality Award. Nurses on this unit are provided with excellent learning opportunities in a fast-paced environment.
