We have an exciting full-time, 36 hours per week opportunity to join the Medical Observation Unit! The RN will be responsible for assisting with the onboarding of new team members and ongoing coaching and mentoring of early career nurses. This position works in collaboration with Emergency Department.

In December 2021, IU Health Bloomington Hospital at the Regional Academic Health Center opened a state-of-the-art facility. Bloomington provides leading-edge medicine and treatments to patients and families in the South Central Region. Our new facility offers an acuity adaptable model of care, designed to support a wide range of patient needs. This allows our nurses to handle varying levels of care professionally and safely.

The RN Clinical Specialty Coordinator Coordinates a service line of care for a similar patient population of high acuity patients of all ages within their department. Responsibilities include extensive assessment and clinical judgment of physiological health care, monitoring the status and providing an appropriate plan of care in collaboration with the health care team. Serves as the clinical expert to assigned staff and is a strong unit leader and performs unit and system leadership activities as necessary to support the specific service line. Applies advanced clinical knowledge of the specialty and is required to scrub and/or circulate. Responsible for developing a core curriculum, in conjunction with the clinical educator and system education, for the service line and oversees orientation of new staff and on-going staff education and evaluation of these programs within the service line. Acts as a role model, resource person, and member of the management team as well as keeping the organization Inc. Mission and Vision at the forefront of all patient care and system activities.

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Masters of Nursing preferred.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
