Job Description

Overview

Do you have a passion for working with children and families? IU Health Physicians Riley Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic is looking for a compassionate, dedicated person to join our team to help promote resilience and recovery among youth and families impacted by trauma and adversity.   

You will receive training and supervision in evidence-based, trauma-focused clinical services (e.g., Trauma-Focused CBT) as you work with children, adolescents, families, and other key members of their care and support networks. In addition to supervised clinical work, you will assist with implementation of program activities through the Indiana Interdisciplinary Trauma and Resilience Education Partnership for Implementation and Dissemination (INTREPID) Center.  The Indiana INTREPID Center will promote implementation of best-practice, trauma-informed care throughout the state, including in partnership with identified clinical and community partners. As part of the Indiana INTREPID Center, you would work closely with other team members on operational, administrative, and educational activities in line with Center aims and objectives.

Qualifications: 

Experience working with children and families.

Outstanding interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience with trauma-focused assessment and psychotherapy
  • Therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques
  • Previous work providing interventions via telehealth
  • Collaboration and partnership with community agencies
  • Project assistant / project manager experience

Preferred Knowledge:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy theory and application
  • Behavioral therapies theory and application
  • Social ecological theory and application
  • Child development research and its application in treatment

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver trauma-focused clinical services to children, adolescents, and families, including review of referral information, initial psychosocial evaluation, and evidence-based psychotherapy
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with intervention principles and clinic policies and procedures
  • Assist with Indiana INTREPID Center operations (e.g., data collection/management, educational sessions, liaising with clinical and community partners, etc.)
  • Participate in pertinent training, supervision, consultation, and professional development activities.

 Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related area is required.
• CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) certification required within 6 months.
• Requires current licensure or license eligibility in the state of Indiana as an HSPP, LMFT, LCSW or LMHC.
• 3-5 years experience preferred in one of the following areas (mental health, Department of Child and Family Services, adult protective services, Veteran's Administration, substance abuse).
• Requires experience working with geographically and financially diverse patient populations.
• Requires knowledge of the impact of the disease process and of human behavior to provide psychosocial assessments, short-term therapeutic counseling and crisis intervention to patients, families and staff.
• Requires knowledge of state and county adult and child protective legal mandates.
• Requires knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Maintains principles, practices and techniques of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the community, medical teams, law enforcement, APS/CPS, schools, probation and other agencies as indicated.
• Requires proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
