Data Scientist – IS (Senior)

Job Description

Overview

Apply for the Data Scientist role with IU Health! This will be a hybrid schedule with onsite responsibilities in Indianapolis as well as weekly remote opportunities! This role will be part of the Enterprise Analytics department within the Data Management - Data Science team.

Data Scientist - GCP is a member of the Data Science team building end-to-end data pipelines for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics with focus on data extraction and processing, analytics, feature engineering/selection, modeling and evaluation, results delivery and model implementation. Contribute to the creation of analytics platforms and data products that will drive core business processes and be used by analysts across the organization and help clinical/business leadership make better, data driven decisions.

  • Develop state-of-the art ML algorithms and other predictive models which will serve as a guiding light for change and improvement
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging tools and techniques in machine learning, natural language processing, database systems, visualization, statistical modeling, data extraction/manipulation and so on.
  • Have willingness to dive into technical big data projects and deliver solutions (planning and technical implementation) to customers 
  • Support ongoing deployment of predictive models which support the IU Health organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Information Management, Social Sciences, or Business/Marketing related fields; advanced quantitative degree or intensive bootcamp experience is preferred
  • Master’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related is preferred
  • 4 years as Data Scientist or related including at least 2 years in healthcare or health insurance organization
  • Knowledge of clinical claims and health record data as well as common healthcare data exchange formats (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CCDA), Big Data/ML/AI-related technology services for healthcare
  • Experience/technical skill set must include Python (numpy, pandas, sklearn, nlt) and and/or Java/Scala; relational databases and SQL; data exploration, data wrangling and feature engineering; machine learning modeling techniques and algorithms; applied statistics; strong scripting and programming skills; cloud data warehouses and cloud provider services (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure); and building data pipelines in the cloud under HIPAA constraints

 Masters Degree required.
• 3 Years of experience required.
• Strong demonstrated working knowledge of SQL and data modeling required.
• Demonstrated experience with statistical methods and machine learning algorithms (e.g. resampling methods, ensemble models, forecasting models).
• Demonstrated experience scripting with a general-purpose language (e.g. Python).
• Demonstrated experience creating dashboards (e.g. Tableau).
• Demonstrated experience using cloud services (e.g. Azure).
