Job Description

Overview

Paoli, IN 

Responsible for supervising day-to-day activities of Ambulance Service field personnel and proper deployment of ambulances and equipment to assure a prompt response to dispatches and delivery of high quality pre-hospital care services. Assures adequate street coverage through effective scheduling techniques. Assures that daily responsibilities including completion of paperwork, reports, restocking, etc, occur in an effective and efficient manner. Oversees AMT operations. Responsible for the care, transport, and treatment of ill/injured patients in both emergency and non-emergency situations. Responsible for relaying and receiving information regarding the patient and patient condition. The Paramedic is responsible for complying with all regulatory requirements, BHAS departmental policy and practice, safety policies and practice, hospital policies, and operating within the scope of a certified Paramedic as defined by the state of Indiana. The Paramedic must possess the required knowledge and skills to appropriately care for and manage neonatal, infant, pediatric, adult, and elderly patients.

 Associate's degree preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of an approved Paramedic training program.
• American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification required.
• Valid Driver's License in the State of Indiana.
• Indiana Paramedic Certification (EMT-P).
• Maintains driver insurability as required by Bloomington Hospital.
• Pediatric Education for Pre-hospital Professionals (PEPP) or American heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
• Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Certification (PHTLS).EMT-P;PALS;BLS;ACLSAt least two years of full time employment with BHAS required.
• Supervisory experience in a hospital, pre-hospital, public safety, or EMS agency preferred.
• Two-year active certification as a paramedic required.
