The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. This position may perform duties associated with symptom-management, direct in-clinic patient care, and/or telehealth patient care and quality improvement activities. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
Under the supervision of designated physician leadership, this position will be specifically responsible for the successful execution of our Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Program. The OPAT Program is spearheaded by the Pediatric Infectious Diseases group and will require collaboration with the full Peds-ID care team (clinic front office and back office staff, physicians, APP, clinical fellows, pharmacist, inpatient case management, social work support, etc.). This position performs duties associated with direct patient care, care management, and quality improvement activities. Necessary skills include, but are not limited to: robust attention to detail and time management, ability to be a positive problem solver, consistent follow-through - ensuring completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, proactive patient and family engagement and education, an eagerness to be a lifelong learner, ability to appropriately triage competing priorities and successfully multi-task, etc.
