Job Description

Overview

Build your career with IU Health!  We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Grants Officer to join the Philanthropy team at our Indianapolis Med Tower Location on weekly Hybrid scheudle . 

The role of the Grants Team is to identify, seek, and secure external funding from private foundations, corporations, and government agencies to support the work of IU Health across the state. The Senior Grants Officer utilizes creative and technical writing skills, engages in extensive research, and collaborates with colleagues to develop timely, professional, compelling proposals and funding documents. Creates a cultivation strategy for each identified prospect, including clear cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans (in collaboration stewardship and grants administration colleagues). Represents the IU Health Foundation in meetings with prospective and active donors as well as community and/or program partners.

 

Under leadership of the Director, the Senior Grants Officer is responsible for securing grant income from private and corporate foundations as well as government agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Officer utilizes creative and technical writing skills, engages in extensive research, and collaborates with colleagues to develop timely, professional, compelling proposals and funding documents.
  • Contributes to the achievement of Grants Team revenue goals
  • Creates a cultivation strategy for each identified prospect, including clear cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans (in collaboration stewardship colleagues)
  • Supports the development of technical supporting documents for Federal grantors
  • The officer is responsible for assisting with administrative functions of the office, including proposal preparation as well as collaboration on grant management
  • In coordination with department colleagues, performs various research tasks such as prospect and topical research
  • Prospect research includes using online databases to identify foundations, corporations and government agencies to support IU Health funding priorities and projects around the state
  • Coordinates with the Program Manager, Grants Administration and colleagues in the Communications department to ensure grantor organizations receive appropriate recognition on print and media materials
  • Provides excellent customer service and maintains a positive relationship with all donors and internal IU Health staff
  • Represents the IU Health Foundation in meetings with prospective and active donors as well as community and / or program partners

 Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
• Working knowledge of fundraising software
• i.e. Raiser's Edge.
• Proficiency in MS office required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment preferred.
