The Patient Care Intern Progression Program helps student nurses on their pathway to becoming an RN while gaining hands-on patient care experience.  IU Health provides these future nurses with learning, mentorship, and progression opportunities as they work toward their degree.  In this role, you’ll work alongside other healthcare professionals to strengthen your skills in patient care, decision-making, and critical thinking.

IU Health is looking for exceptional nurses with a passion for emergency medicine to join our top-ranked Emergency Medical Trauma Center at Methodist Hospital! Does that sound like you?

We are the largest emergency medicine training center in the state and we have an outstanding dedication to quality patient care.

Our innovative emergency medicine services encompass every level of treatment for critically injured and seriously ill patients. As a Level I Trauma Center, IU Health Methodist Hospital Emergency Medicine services include a full trauma staff and surgical team available on site 24 hours a day. Methodist EMTC leads both the state and the country in providing excellence in trauma care.

Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires PCI to be actively enrolled and have completed 1 semester student nursing at an accredited nursing education program that is accredited by a national organization. For example, the Accreditation Commission For Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
  • Requires ability to apply the organization's personnel policies and procedures.
  • Requires up to date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
  • Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Requires ability to maintain concentration when subjected to frequent and varied interruptions and variable noise levels.
  • Requires ability to organize tasks and attend to details.
  • Requires knowledge of procedures; equipment; software and standards related to patient care activities that non-licensed role perform (ie. PCI, PCA, PCR).
  • Requires ability to perform physically demanding; repetitious movements.
  • Requires knowledge of principles of infection control.
