Sr Architect – IS – Data Engineering

 

DESCRIPTION:

Senior Data Architect – is a hybrid technical and business advisor. This individual embodies project/program management skills, technical vision, and business insight. This position will partner heavily with internal and external teams to provide data and solutions for a precision genomics research collaboration between/among corporate and university researchers. This project aligns with IU Health’s strategic vision to improve health care and become a destination for healthcare in the state of Indiana.

Execution - Drives results by assigning clear authority and accountability, integrating and aligning efforts across the team, and monitoring progress against objectives. Conveys a strong sense of urgency around continuous improvement, achieving high quality results, and accelerating business performance. Addresses problems directly and drives changes necessary to achieve business objectives.

Strategic Thinking -  Aligns the team goals with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Shapes, develops, and aligns the strategies of their area to capture emerging trends, address competitive threats, meet market needs, provide value to the customer, and enhance business value. Aligns personal and workgroup activities to the organizations strategic goals.

People Development - Creates comprehensive talent management plans and bench strength within the organization. Attracts, develops, manages, and retains top talent. Ensures that employees receive ongoing feedback, mentoring, training, and development opportunities. Holds self and others accountable for making continuous progress against their development objectives.

Business Acumen - Exhibits a solid understanding of the organization and how it is structured, the dynamics of the heath systems industry at large, and the overall competitive landscape. Has foundational knowledge of business functions and operations of their area and the customers they serve. Manages projects and initiative budgets, and consistently applies principles of core business functions (finance, marketing, economics, sales, technology, and business systems) to make sound judgments.

Customer Focus - Designs and delivers strategies that place customers at the center of business decisions. Consistently identifies current and future customer needs and ensures the effective delivery of high quality and value added solutions, products, and services that meet or exceed customer expectations.

PREFERENCES:

  • Cloud Experience and/or certifications. GCP Preferred.
  • Experience in implementing and deploying Big data applications
  • Experience with Apache Spark, Cloud Composer/Apache Airflow, Dataflow/Apache Beam, Big Query
  • Must have hands-on expertise in Python and/or Java/Scala; SQL proficiency preferred as well
  • Experience with structured Enterprise Architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps
  • Knowledge of common healthcare data exchange formats (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CCDA), Big Data/ML/AI-related technology services for healthcare
  • Ability to position Google's technology to help with the digital transformation of companies (healthcare)
  • Willingness to dive into technical big data projects and deliver solutions (planning and technical implementation) to customers 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of experience required
  • Requires knowledge of Big Data frameworks and design tools
  • Requires deep expertise in at least one technology domain

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrates 5-7 years of development experience plus a minimum of 3 - 5 additional years of specific architecture experience.
  • Certifications are preferred to help demonstrate depth and breadth of expertise.
  • Requires extensive experience in architecture design and optimization techniques.
  • Requires experience leading virtual teams, facilitating constructive debate and driving outcomes within time and budget constraints.
