Overview

Build your career with IU Health!  We have an exciting opportunity available for a Environment of Care Management  to join our team in our West Central Region. This is an onsite role with weekly travel requirements to Frankfort Hospital and White Hospital. 

Oversees and Implements the hospital Environment of Care Management Plan including the sub-management plans for Bio-Medical Engineering, Fire Prevention/Life Safety, Hazardous Materials, Safety/Security, and Utilities Management. Maintains the Environment of Care related policies. Leads development of Environment of Care performance improvement goals and performance improvement activities. Chairs the Environment of Care Committee as assigned. Acts as internal liaison for Acute Care Quality and Safety Committee. Regularly review Event Reports and Public Safety Reports to identify any immediate or trending safety concerns. Serves on community committees as appropriate.

Our Ideal Candidate would have:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field strongly preferred. 
  • 3-5 years experience in the field.
  • Certification in relevant discipline preferred. 
  • Emergency Management Experience is a plus. 
  • Healthcare experience preferred. 
  • Ability to work with Executive Leadership, Front Line Clinical Staff and Support Staff.

Coordination and Planning - Ensures that a system is in place to measure and monitor compliance with EOC standards utilizing an Information Collection and Evaluation System. As relates to EOC, develop and manage planning for transition of current ambulatory environment into a total healthcare delivery environment. Ensures presence of a management plan related to hazardous material and waste. Plan should address routing handling as well as emergency responses. Ensures a system is in place to recognize and prevent physical security threats, to include access control. Ensures plan for emergency transition of critical bio-medical equipment, and emergency or unexpected shut-down of utilities. 

Documentation - Incorporates a system of proactive risk assessments as part of measuring and monitoring process. Develops mechanism of response to address deficiencies. Makes recommendations as to access control and monitoring devices.  Accountable for ensuring all Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Occupational Safety documentation meets minimum requirements.

Training and Development - Works with Education Department in conveying Environment of Care (EOC) and Safety expectations and compliance technique to staff.  Leverages data to evaluate need for, create, and implement additional training curriculum.

Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Accountability - Work with external AHJs (Joint Commission, Local Fire Marshal, IOSHA, IDEM, etc.) to ensure continual readiness and compliance. Serve as point person for all AHJ inspections related to Environment of Care and Safety.

Safety – Manages the Occupational Safety program in collaboration with Employee Occupational Health Services, Worker’s Compensation, and outside vendors to include industrial hygiene activities, injury review and investigation, job hazard/job safety analyses, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
