Job Description


The Director of Nursing Practice provides decision-making, leadership, and the blueprint for nursing professional development for the Indianapolis Suburban Region (Tipton & Fishers). This role presents a thrilling opportunity for an upbeat, dynamic, and engaging leader to collaborate, inform, and provide support on the strategic direction to achieve a continuous nursing excellence environment. The Director will develop, standardize, and coordinate programs to advance nursing practice, quality, and research. They will be the voice of the practice while crafting a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies.


  • Ensuring alignment of functional initiatives with IUH’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Providing strategic advice based on data-driven analyses and recommendations to shape and steer sustained value in the delivery of IU Health’s short- and long-term goals. 
  • Establishing policy and direction for department and is accountable for department results.
  • Assisting in evaluating, developing, and standardizing processes and developing reporting and communications to maximize operational and financial performance.
  • Coordinating, implementing, and evaluating continuous quality improvement activities. 
  • Performing ongoing analysis of gaps in clinical care and barriers to care, aligning interventions with the strategic plan. 
  • Developing programs in performance improvement methodologies, data analysis, data processing, work simplification techniques, as well as other subjects related to performance improvement. 


  • This is a hybrid role with occasional in-person components such as leader meetings, onsite interview support, Talent Acquisition workshops, and team building activities.

  • Masters of Nursing or related field is required.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires completion Clinical Specialty Professional Certification within 1 year upon meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Requires 7-10 years of relevant experience.
