IU Health has an outstanding opportunity available for a Nursing Professional Development Generalist to join our team in our Education Department at Bedford Hospital! This position will be a part-time day shift role.
The Nursing Professional Development Generalist (NPD) role is multifaceted and includes functioning as a Learning Facilitator, Change Agent, Mentor, Leader, Champion for Inquiry, Advocate for the NPD Specialty, and Partner for Practice Transitions.
Orientation & Onboarding - The NPD role plays a vital role in decreasing turnover, supporting orientees, and developing coaches as informal leaders.
Education - The NPD is trained to apply evidence-based concepts such as adult learning methods and brain-based learning techniques to educate new and experienced staff members.
Role Development - The NPD serves as a mentor by offering their expertise and resources to support team members' professional development. The NPD also leads by example by aligning their work with the vision and values of the organization.
Competency Management - The NPD creates sustainable programs by only requiring staff to complete meaningful and valuable competencies.
Inquiry - The NPD guides staff through the process of completing EBP projects, submitting abstracts, presenting at conferences, and publishing manuscripts.
Collaborative Relationships - The NPD builds and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with various disciplines that share common goals.

The Practitioner-Nursing Professional Development (NPD) utilizes NPD practice judgment and expertise to improve and influence professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings with a desired outcome to support the IU Health Way. Six primary responsibilities of this role include onboarding/orientation, competency management, education, role development, collaborative partnerships, and inquiry. This role often functions in these responsibilities at a unit or facility level partnering with leaders and other stakeholders to achieve strategic goals and initiatives.
