Build your career with IU Health!  We have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Manager to join the Rehabilitation Services team at our Downtown Indianapolis. 

The scope of this manager role will include reviewing and auditing both provider and facility billing for the wound center including the HBO program, education of all clinical team members on appropriate coding and the needed documentation, support and guidance of the prior authorization process.  

Designs and ensures compliance with billing and invoicing processes including: Information verification (e.g. , ensure accuracy of billing information, negotiated terms and compliance with current legislation); Monitors customer accounts (e.g. , ensure payments made on time, report on overdue accounts, etc. ); Resolves billing discrepancies (e.g. , investigate and resolve billing & invoicing errors, recommends process improvements to avoid future errors, etc. ); May include collections activities. Applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Works independently with general supervision. Supports others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices. Responsible for maintaining the chargemaster and pricing. Educates department on appropriate charging practices and performs internal audits to ensure compliance. Researches reimbursement issues and makes recommendations. Maintains the Chargemaster Maintenance files with current and appropriate charging information including pricing, HCPCS codes and descriptions, revenue codes, CPT-4 codes, etc. Researches reimbursement issues and assigns accurate CPT4/HCPCS and Revenue codes. Ensures all codes input into the system are accurate and up-to-date. Periodically reviews charges to ensure continuity between departments. Provides support in the areas of charge description master list creation and maintenance, charge capture and charge entry, source document creation and use, coding, reimbursement and denials management. Support physician and non-physician providers in coding, billing and documentation. Provides chart auditing of clinical documentation to ensure documentation supports billing.  Provides support to Revenue Cycle Team in resolving coverage and/or coding related challenges and decisions, problem solving to ensure successful outcome of claims.  Communicates with insurance companies about coding errors and dispute. Contact physicians and other health care professionals with questions about treatments or diagnostic tests given to patients with regard to coding procedures.

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • Certified Professional coder preferred.
  • Experience in Revenue Cycle Management in hospital or outpatient setting required.
  • Requires knowledge of personal computers using various types of word and database software.  
  • Requires knowledge of requirements of insurance companies and government regulators.
  • Requires an understanding of Medicare and the issues surrounding corporate compliance.
  • Requires experience with CPT coding, International Codes for Diseases and reimbursement. 
  • Requires knowledge of medical terminology. 
  • Requires understanding of medical record requirements, regulations and policies.
  • Requires high level of interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills. 
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills in both individual and group settings.
  • Requires ability to prioritize and process multiple tasks at once.
