Overview

Riley Hospital for Children is seeking a full-time cardiac sonographer for our growing downtown Indianapolis location.  This position will consist of both inpatient and outpatient echos. 

This position is fulltime, Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm at Riley Hospital.  It rotates on-call responsibilities after hours and on weekends to perform studies or provide testing as requested.  

A Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer performs echocardiography procedures utilized in the diagnosis of congenital and acquired heart disease on the pediatric population and congenital heart disease in adult patients. This position performs in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position may provide these services in multiple locations as designated by department scope.  Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient being served. 

Records, interrogates, quantifies, and measures both presence of normal and abnormal anatomy or physiology in a manner consistent with approved standards. Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.   

Experience in pediatric complex congenital disease and procedures is preferred.  Open to training the right motivated candidate if little or no experience. Pediatric registry preferred or acquired within 18 months of employment.      

• Basic Life Support certification required. May also require Advanced Life Support certification, if applicable.
• Applicant must be eligible to sit for their registry at the time of hire and must successfully pass it within one year from start date through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, RDCS; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Cardiac Sonographer, RCS, Advanced Cardiac Sonographer, ACS, or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer, RCCS.
• If applicant currently holds a registry in adult echo, applicant has 18 months to obtain pediatric registry.  Either through ARDMS or CCI
• May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
• May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
• Minimum of one year of experience in Echocardiography, preferred.
