Job Description

Overview

The Executive Director of Pharmacy is a senior leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to all aspects of the pharmaceutical supply chain including contract management, purchasing, repackaging, compounding, fulfillment, distribution, and inventory management. This role has statewide and/or systemwide scope and is responsible for medication management services across the continuum of care. Leads and manages pharmacy patient care services and operations, medication use outcomes, and stewardship. Ensures the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care within the health system and drives financial performance of pharmacy services. Maintains active involvement in pharmacy advocacy at the local, state, and national level. The Executive Director-Pharmacy will lead a team of pharmacy professionals, drive quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care outcomes. 

  • This role will be based at IU Health’s Integrated Service Center in Plainfield, IN
    • Monday-Friday, opportunity for occasional remote work
    • Moderate travel

 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Bachelors of Science (B.S) in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree required.
  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters in Healthcare Administration (MHA) highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive and relevant leadership experience.
  • Must be licensed as a Pharmacist in Indiana or eligible for licensure.
  • Highly developed skills in fiscal and resource management with track record of advancing pharmacy operations and clinical practice.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the accepted practices, procedures, regulations, and techniques applicable to the practice of Pharmacy.
  • Experience in hospital operations and pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Six Sigma or LEAN certifications preferred.

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Vice President – Chief Pharmacy Officer
Direct Reports: 3-4 direct reports
Other Key Relationships: System-wide Pharmacy Directors, Pharmacy Managers, Supply Chain
