Overview

Indiana University Health North Hospital is seeking a dynamic and visionary operations director to lead the Schwarz Cancer Center. The Director of Operations for the North Hospital Schwarz Cancer Center will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and direct oversight to multiple departments; clinic (medical and surgical oncology), infusion, radiation oncology, supportive care, and integrative health. This leader will work collaboratively with departments like pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, revenue cycle services, and more to ensure the operational success of the Cancer Center. The Director will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to deliver exceptional cancer care in the Indianapolis Suburban Region. 

Key Relationships

  • Reports to: Service Line Administrator – Oncology and Spine Services
  • Manager-level direct reports: Manager of Clinic and Infusion, Manager of Integrative Health, and future state Manager of Radiation Oncology (total org of approximately 77 team members)

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a cancer center, academic medical center, or similar healthcare setting preferred. Seeking a leader who is comfortable managing multiple teams who will be successful in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in oncology clinical practice preferred.  
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, program development, and implementation preferred.
  • Experience in developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, clinical processes, and overall performance metrics.
  • Proficiency in financial management, budget planning, and resource allocation.  Requires the ability to manage contracts, participate in budgetary decision-making, and lead capital equipment acquisitions.
  • Experienced in taking a collaborative and inclusive approach to working with physicians and other healthcare professionals to foster a culture of mutual respect, trust, and teamwork.
  • Requires Employee Relations experience, managing highly complex cases.
  • Requires working knowledge of Cerner applications or other major EMR systems.
