Overview

IU Health West Cancer Center provides the full spectrum of cancer care for patients from the western suburbs of Indianapolis and beyond, housing a medical oncology clinic, radiation oncology department, and an infusion center. 

This Oncology Infusion Ambulatory Nursing Supervisor position oversees the Cancer Center’s 11-bay infusion department.  This position oversees a team of nurses and works closely with pharmacy and the medical oncology clinic to provide high quality infusion care to patients.  This position is fully outpatient.  This supervisor will be heavily engaged in education, evaluation of care planning to support the operations and the growth of infusion care at IU Health West Hospital.  

The supervisor will be supported in attending education programs to identify learnings needs to maintain and develop oncology infusion competencies and will be expected to consult with leadership to implement recommendations passed on patient needs assessments.   

Oncology experience is preferred.  This position reports up to the Director of Operations, Cancer Services at IU Health West Hospital.

The Oncology Infusion Ambulatory Nursing Supervisor reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position may provide leadership, management, and oversight of nursing practice, clinical care delivery, and provide personnel management to assigned clinical staff. This position provides assistance with problem-solving; ensures adequate staffing and material resources are available to support patient care and efficient clinic operations. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Two years experience preferred. Oncology experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
