Job Description

Overview

The Director of Nursing Practice provides administrative decision making, leadership, and strategic planning including the efficient and productive use of personnel, material, and financial resources. This role establishes policy and direction for department and is accountable for department results. The director develops, standardizes, and coordinates programs to advance nursing practice, quality, and research. This role oversees policy and procedure development and maintenance. Other opportunities include:

  • This role will be based at Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN with occasional travel to Frankfort and White Memorial Hospitals. 

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Masters of Nursing or related field is required.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires completion Clinical Specialty Professional Certification within 1 year upon meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Requires 7-10 years of relevant experience.


KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Associate Chief Nursing Officer – Nursing Practice
Direct Reports: 12 direct reports, including nursing professional development generalists and specialists.
Other Key Relationships: Clinical Nurse Specialists, System Nursing Professional Development Directors, Director of Operations, Inpatient Leaders, Critical Access Hospital Leaders, and other disciplines within the hospitals. Externally, this role will work with academic institutions.
