New Graduates 

New registered nurse (RN) graduates’ benefit from a comprehensive, personalized support system. All RNs in their first nursing role are invited to participate in a Nurse Residency Program alongside nursing orientation. The program provides socialization and support, enhances clinical judgment, and promotes professional development. 

Join our energetic team on the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) where nurses care for and treat adults experiencing an acute mental health crisis. The IUH Ball inpatient adult psychiatric team is committed to providing excellent care to our patient population to help them regain quality of life. Our dedicated team includes with a skilled nursing team, psychiatrists, and social work.  The inpatient behavioral health unit is a part of the growing behavioral health service line at IUH Ball that is centered on a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach that puts patients and their families first. We strive to meet our patients’ needs across the continuum of care and are dedicated to continuous improvement and innovation that is aimed to create a supportive and safe work environment for patients and staff.   

Nursing skills gained on this unit:

  • Critical thinking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Verbal de-escalation skills
  • Training in a therapeutic behavioral management program

Unit Culture:

  • 8 weeks of new graduate nurse training

Qualifications 

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • requirement of becoming OCN certified within 2yrs of hire
