Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated nurse to join our team as a Clinical Specialty Coordinator for the Operating Room. This full-time position operates primarily during the day, Monday through Friday, and provides a platform for professional growth and advancement in your nursing career.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care Coordination: Oversee a specialized service line, ensuring high-quality care for patients of all ages with complex medical needs. Conduct comprehensive assessments and exercise sound clinical judgment to monitor patient progress and develop appropriate care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Clinical Expertise: Serve as the clinical expert and resource for staff within the department. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship while demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge specific to the operating room environment.
Education & Training: Collaborate with clinical educators to develop a core curriculum for the service line. Develop and implement orientation and ongoing education programs for new staff and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives.
Leadership & Management: Act as a strong unit leader, leading various unit and system leadership activities. Contribute to strategic initiatives that support the service line, exemplifying our organization’s mission and vision in all aspects of patient care.
Role Model: Uphold professional standards and act as a role model for nursing practice within the department, illustrating IU Health’s commitment to compassionate and patient-centered care.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred.
Licensure: Must hold a current state of Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license, having graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required; additional advanced life support certifications may be needed based on specific department requirements.
Experience: Extensive experience in an Operating Room setting is strongly preferred.
