Job Description

Overview

This individual will be working with providers(s) in an outpatient clinic under the supervision of the clinic/practice manager and provider(s). The ATC will perform duties associated with direct patient care in accordance with the organization standards. The ATC will assist the providers with in-office procedures, treatments, casting, patient education, and assuring efficient patient flow. Patient education will range from explaining next steps in the treatment plan, to educate patients through a home exercise program or bracing. This individual may perform computerized provider order entry per provider. The ATC participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve set outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. This position may perform duties associated with symptom-management, direct in-clinic patient care, telehealth patient care, quality improvement activities and other duties as assigned.

Job Duties:

Clinic or procedure chart prepping:

              - Reviewing scheduled patients to ensure they are scheduled with the correct provider 

              - Calling for imaging to be pushed to the IU Health cloud for provider access. 

              - Reviewing previous exams (imaging, labs, etc) or provider appointments 

- Rooming: vitals, history, physical exam (range of motion evaluations, special testing for respective area, evaluation of visual changes), presenting differential diagnoses to physician

- Ordering x-ray exams based on provider protocol 

- Placing needed orders per provider in the EMR for PT, MRI/CT, lab work, etc.

- Managing incoming and outgoing referrals 

- Preparing and assisting with in office procedures (Injections, aspirations, ultrasound exams, PRP, etc.)

- Triaging and addressing patient calls and portal messages

- Manage paperwork including, but not limited to FMLA, disability, workers comp, etc.

- Creating, demonstrating, and prescribing a home exercise program 

- Coordinating communication between the physical therapy and providers

- Communicating with outreach athletic trainers to assist in facilitating student athlete appointments

 Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Athletic Training is required.
• Indiana State Athletic Training Licensure or eligible required.
• Must be a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross Professional Rescuer required.
• Other certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• 0-3 years of experience required.
