The Medical Director – Quality & Safety in the East Central Region exists to establish and lead the implementation of Indiana University Health’s Safety, Quality, and Medical Staff strategy for the system. The Medical Director will have demonstrated tactics and documented accomplishments in achieving excellence in medical safety and quality. The incumbent will provide training, define methodologies, direct the collection and analysis of data, directs internal and external reporting, and facilitates development of and promotes support for best practices and evidence-based medicine with the Director of Safety and Quality. This includes identifying priorities and directing resources, functions, and programs that support the continuous improvement of medical care processes and outcomes throughout all Indiana University Health facilities (inpatient and outpatient). The Medical Director will direct and continue to develop the physician leadership structure within Indiana University Health to enhance Indiana University Health’s medical staff's competency to continually improve medical staff safety and quality outcomes. Responsibilities include coaching, supervision, and evaluation of the medical directors with respect to their leadership and achievement of Indiana University Health’s safety and quality goals. The Medical Director advises executive leadership and board on matters related to medical safety and quality improvement and reporting.
