Build your career with IU Health! We have an exciting opportunity available for a Pharmacy Contract Value Realization Consultant to join the Integrated Service Center team in Plainfield, IN. 

This role of Pharmacy Contract Consultant is pivotal in streamlining our pharmacy operations by ensuring meticulous adherence to vendor and distributor contracts. You will be instrumental in optimizing financial performance through effective contract management, reducing manual labor, and enhancing purchasing compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly impact our organization's efficiency and financial health within a dynamic pharmaceutical environment. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a strong analytical mindset to drive improvements in our contract and purchasing processes.

The Pharmacy Contract Consultant drives significant financial impact by optimizing pharmacy operations and ensuring adherence to contractual agreements with vendors and distributors. Focuses on maximizing contract value, streamlining processes, and improving efficiency through effective contract management and compliance. Leads the development and implementation of strategies to maximize contract value, including minimizing credit/rebill situations, reducing manual labor, and minimizing off-cycle operational impacts. Operates on complex projects, utilizing independent judgment and strong analytical skills to make informed decisions. Develops and maintains comprehensive analytics and reports on contract performance, achieved savings, and key performance indicators. Emphasizes continuous improvement by developing and implementing strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks. Support the centralized purchasing team by providing data-driven insights and simplifying purchasing recommendations.  

The consultant will provide guidance to pharmacy stakeholders on contract-related matters and ensure that all processes, procedures, and expectations are aligned with cross-functional teams. Uses technology to actively manage sourcing compliance, contract leveling, contract rebates, monitors and addresses failure-to-supply situations, oversees supplier and 340B rebate compliance, and ensures manufacturer adherence to established purchasing controls. Collaborate with finance and accounts payable to improve the operating cycle and ensure timely payments. Collaborates with group purchasing organizations on strategy, benchmarking, and identifying new opportunities. They ensure compliance with all relevant contracts, including GPO agreements, and maintain accurate contract records in relevant systems. This includes distributor engagement. Co-manages pharmacy supplier relationships, developing strategic plans, monitoring vendor performance, and conducting regular business reviews. They build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, assessing their ability to support organizational goals for diversity and local spend. Coordinates with clinical and operational stakeholders, including the System Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, by providing data-driven insights to support clinical initiatives and optimize medication use.

  • Associate's Degree is required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.    
  • Requires 7-10 years of relevant experience.    
  • Requires significant experience in pharmaceutical purchasing, analytics, contract management, navigating a complex organization, obtaining buy-in for proposals, sourcing strategy development, contract portfolio ownership, contract lifecycle management, leadership development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.    
  • Strong verbal, written, leadership, business acumen, strategic thinking, relationship building, collaboration, negotiation, data analysis, and project management skills are required.    
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software applications; statistical software applications experience preferred.    
  • Must be proficient in the use of Pharmacy business systems and tools.    
  • May be required to travel for conferences or other business needs.     
  • Pharmacy technician license required.
  • 340B experience preferred.
