The CVI – Clinical Nurse Specialist, in collaboration with cardiovascular leaders, is responsible for leading and coordinating quality improvement efforts within cardiovascular care.  The CVI – CNS collaborates closely with interdisciplinary teams, leveraging data to drive clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement.   

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior CV Clinical Nurse Specialist Experience -or-
  • Cardiovascular Nursing experience in procedural areas (Cath Lab, EP lab, or Periop/OR)-or-
  • Cardiovascular Advanced Practice Provider

 

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and cardiovascular quality reporting tools
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of cardiovascular care standards and guidelines

 

Responsibilities:

A Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a Masters prepared Advance Practice Registered Nurse whose function is to improve outcomes in patient care. Functioning in five sub roles including: Expert in Clinical Practice, Educator, Leader, Researcher and Consultant, who positively influence the three spheres of practice: Patient Care, Nursing, and Systems in their respective specialties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree of Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master in nursing as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) required.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license and meets regulatory requirements to practice as a CNS.
  • Requires 3-5 years of advanced clinical skills typically gained through nursing experience.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
