Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist (Evening Emergency Medicine)

Location: Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis, Indiana

About Us: Riley Hospital for Children is a Level I pediatric trauma and burn center with over 65,000 emergency department visits per year. Riley is a leading pediatric healthcare facility dedicated to providing exceptional care to children and their families and advancing pediatric health through innovative treatments, compassionate care, and cutting-edge research.

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Clinical Specialist to join our dynamic team in the emergency department. In this role, you will collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy, ensure safe and effective medication use, and provide clinical expertise in pediatric pharmacotherapy to improve patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric pharmacy, emergency and/or critical care and a passion for providing exceptional patient experience. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive medication reviews and provide clinical recommendations
  • Collaborate with interprofessional care teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff on medication management and safety
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives 
  • Stay current with advancements in pediatric pharmacotherapy and contribute to ongoing education and training programs
  • Participate in code and trauma response and assist in high-acuity situations

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution
  • Active pharmacist license or eligible for pharmacist licensure in Indiana
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • PGY-2 Pediatric residency, or equivalent clinical practice experience
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Pharmacy (BCPPS) highly preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications highly preferred
