Job Description

Overview

This grant funded role serves as a specialized link between the IU Health Department of Public Safety, IU Health team members and guests. Candidates for this role will work within the Mobile Crisis Assistance Team (MCAT), alongside a Social Worker, and be a resource to respond to specialized safety needs involving persons who are experiencing mental health, substance use and homelessness crises. Candidate will respond to calls assisting to provide real-time and follow up assistance to individuals in crisis by facilitating assessment, triage, and linkage to appropriate services. Foster and build relationships with community services, agencies, and other resources. Attend regularly scheduled meetings and training sessions. Complete all annual training and certification requirements. Assist with various duties as necessary.

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in crisis assistance is preferred.
  • Requires current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
  • Requires successful completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier I or Tier II training within one (1) year after appointment as a police officer. 
  • Must be able to obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
  • Must not have convictions for felony, domestic violence or violent misdemeanor offenses.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening and psychological exam.
  • Requires working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
