Overview

The RN is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of proficient, evidence-based care, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and improve operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

This role will involve direct oversight of Methodist OR evening/night shift staff and patient care and would serve as support for leaders of Methodist PACU (evening/night staff and patient care).

The team consists of level one trauma, level one vascular, level one stroke; supports all urgent/emergent surgical procedures that occur after off-shift (after routine operating hours).  Complex surgical care in a fast paced environment. Role diversity on shift includes RNs, CSTs, ORA’s, Rad Techs, Anesthesia Techs, Perfusion, Surgeons, Anesthesia, Residents and Fellows.

Hours: Flexible hours to cover evening/night shift leader accountability – 1500-2330; 1700-0130; 1900-0330 – can flex from day to day based on operational need.  Will also have some day shift meeting (currently all virtual) expectations; however, can flex hours to accommodate as able.

Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities

• Requires current state of Indiana license as a Registered Nurse.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Requires an Associate of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
