IU Health Methodist Hospital is recruiting a full-time night shift inpatient Pharmacist to work from 9 pm - 7 am providing services in our Critical Care units and our Level I Emergency Medicine department. We prefer individuals who have completed PGY2 training in Critical Care, emergency medicine or equivalent patient management experience. The successful candidate is highly motivated, resourceful, and has outstanding leadership and communication skills.
This position exists to provide comprehensive, value based, medication-related care to achieve definite outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life. The incumbent acts in collaboration with healthcare professionals in the shared responsibility for patient drug therapy outcomes. Key job duties may consist of ensuring safety and effectiveness of the medication use process, processing and dispensing medications per order or prescription, medication therapy monitoring, regulatory compliance, maintaining oversight over pharmacist extenders, maintaining the security of medications, and protecting the confidentiality of patient information. Additionally, is competent at providing drug information support for medical staff, ensuring continuity of care, and identifying potential challenges in common situations.
Methodist Hospital is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Neuroscience Center of Excellence and has approximately 900 adult inpatient beds! Methodist Hospital, as part of the Academic Health Center, provides nationally recognized clinical care to patients with severe or complex illnesses from across Indiana and beyond. Our pharmacy practice model includes a multi-layered approach to supporting our patients and healthcare staff, by combining clinical generalists, clinical specialists, and technicians to meet patients’ needs in a comprehensive manner.
Pharmacists are an integral aspect of patient care at IU Health, with a strong presence and excellent relationships with providers and nursing partners across all specialties. The ideal candidate has experience providing pharmacist services and advancing practice in adult medical or surgical critical care and emergency medicine.
IU Health serves as a teaching site for a large variety of health profession learners. Additionally, IU Health Academic Health Center hosts 16 PGY-1 pharmacy residents and 12 PGY-2 pharmacy residents, including Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, and 1 Toxicology fellow.
