Job Description

Overview

Riley Hospital for Children is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and annually has over 2000 patients per year in their trauma registry.  The data analyst/trauma registry role is able to work remotely.  This role performs processes necessary to meet the requirements as described in the Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient and National Trauma Data Standards and TQIP.   Responsibilities include coding and abstracting socioeconomic, demographic, ICD-10 and AIS coding, participation in quality improvement measures to ensure data integrity and disseminating patient data in accordance with confidentiality statutes and professional ethics. Ensures that the Registry operation conforms to the standards approved by accrediting and regulatory agencies. Plays an active role in ensuring that the trauma program meets American College of Surgeons Trauma reverification. Provides analysis, reporting and data discovery services for end-users under general supervision. Incorporates end-user requests and requirements to develop enterprise reporting/dashboarding solutions. Collaborates with end-users to generate and prepare solutions to support business and clinical objectives. Administers access and maintains data warehouse security to ensure reliability and security of data. Provides assistance in training end-users on reporting tools. Provides support on projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Assists leadership on small to medium size projects. Solves moderately complex problems. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of trauma registry experience
  • CSTR (Certified Specialist In Trauma Registries) certification required
  • CAISS (Certifed Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist) strongly preferred or exam scheduled
  • Strong knowledge of:  Anatomy/Physiology; Medical Record terminology; ICD-10 coding for trauma; AIS coding; excel
  • Ablilty to Abstract, Code data information for trauma registry. 
  • Able to run and analyze data reports. 

 Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
•3-5 years of experience required.
• Requires knowledge of SQL programming.
