Overview

Are you ready for an exciting and enriching experience, working alongside some of the brightest minds in healthcare? Indiana University Health is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic communications intern to join our team and further our vision of making Indiana one of the nation’s healthiest states.

The Indy Suburban Region Communications intern will support multiple internal and external communication channels, primarily focused on social media, public relations and internal communications. The intern can expect to gain experience in social media content creation, social media analytics, interviews, pitching, media coaching, newsletters, video production and more. This internship supports IU Health’s Indianapolis Suburban Region, which includes IU Health North, Saxony, Tipton and West hospitals.

The ideal candidate would have strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to write to AP style. Applicants should be self-starters, highly organized, resourceful and an effective communicator, with keen attention to detail and strong project management abilities. Highly preferred majors include: Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Business Management or similar.

The marketing organization at IU Health is comprised of many different teams and focus areas, including system and service line marketing, regional marketing, digital marketing, patient experience, research and analytics, destination services, social media, internal and corporate communications, public relations and more, which offers many unique opportunities to develop both personally and professionally.

The Indy Suburban Communications internship is for the 2021 Summer semester. The intern will work primarily remote until further notice due to COVID-19, but occasional on-site work may be required at any of our Indy Suburban Region hospitals.  

The internship begins in June and runs through August, with the opportunity to extend into the Fall semester.

 Requires current enrollment in an Associate's, Bachelor's, and/or Master's Degree Program.
