Job Description

Overview

The Director – Facilities will lead the business unit facility in planning and developing facilities and new construction. This leader will direct projects (e.g. site repairs/construction, preventive maintenance, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completion within established time frames, project design and budget. They will set the vision for the functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, NFPA, NEX, LS, and elevators. The Director will be responsible for overseeing contractors for facility renovation projects entailing HVAC, electrical systems, and production floor arrangement.

Other areas of responsibility:

·      Setting the strategic vision for new construction, repair work, projects

·      Spearheading efforts to drive energy cost conservation through in-house efforts and utility contracting

·      Budget forecasting of major facility and clinical equipment costs, including preventive maintenance allowances

·      Leading construction or remodeling efforts and vendor relationships

·      Strategic Thinking - Maintaining a mid- to long-term, big picture view of the business. Aligning goals with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Shaping, developing, and aligning the strategies of the department to capture emerging trends, address competitive threats, meet market needs, provide value to the customer, and enhance business value

Qualifications/knowledge/skills/abilities

·      Bachelors degree in a technical or business discipline is required or equivalent years of experience.  

·      5+ years of relevant experience leading teams at the Director level and 7+ years of experience HVAC, electrical, plumbing and other utility systems. Preference for experience in healthcare facilities.

·      Previous experience with total facility ownership is strongly desired. 

·      Comprehensive understanding of codes and regulations associated with maintenance utility operation including the requirements of the JCAHO, SDOH, OSHA, and other federal, state and local agencies.

·      In-depth knowledge of hazardous material management, NFPA Life Safety Code, State Fire Marshall and NFPA 99 requirements.

·      Ability to think strategically about the financial impact of systems, new projects and improvements.

Reports to: VP – Operations   

Direct reports: 1-2 manager level and 2 contractor
