Customer Service Representative II

Job Description

Overview

Responsible for Hospice House reception and clerical duties. Screens incoming telephone calls from relatives and interested parties. Receives and relays messages as necessary. Provides requested information regarding Hospice and Hospice House or transfers the call to the appropriate Hospice professional. Consistently takes initiative to capture information to assist callers and visitors. Demonstrates excellent communication skills, telephone etiquette and helpful attitude. Greets Hospice House patients, families, and vendors. Creates work orders for building maintenance needs and contacts outside vendors when services are needed.

Works with Hospice Interdisciplinary team to meet physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of Hospice House patients and families. Considers the patient and family the unit of care. Provide supportive services to help meet family social and emotional needs in relation to the impact of the terminal illness, loss, and grief. Demonstrates compassionate communication with patient, family, and visitors.

Provides department administrative support. Candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to organize their work using tools, like MS Excel and office equipment. Initiates patient’s departmental chart and closes chart when treatment is completed. Monitors medical and clerical supply inventory. Orders clerical and medical supplies so that there are no shortages/overages. Keeps inventory of durable medical equipment. Interfaces with and assists in giving directions to and coordinates volunteer assignments. Continually aware of need for cost efficiency and containment and makes this a priority while maintaining the highest quality of patient care. Assists with staff schedules and edits and updates timecards. Retrieve/locate/research information requested while using discretion. Work reflects understanding of Hospice philosophy.

This position is located at IU Health Hospice House and is M-F 8-4:30pm. No weekends, no holidays.


 High School Diploma/GED required.
•3-5 years of customer service experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding required.
• Ability to type 30+ words per minute.
• Requires working knowledge of computers.
