Job Description


The Executive Medical Director will lead, manage, direct, and be accountable for the overall performance of IU Health Physicians (IUHP) specialty services at Eskenazi to assure the Eskenazi Health System goals are achieved. They will be responsible for the appropriateness, quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the medical care delivered by IUHP physicians and advance practice providers of the specialty service lines, with emphasis on the goal of providing equitable care to underserved patients. This leader will act as a liaison between Eskenazi Health leadership and the physician practice plan leadership (IUHP) to develop and implement specialty services’ clinical policies and guidelines; develop and assess clinical activities and performance of those participating in the service line; understand and contribute to meeting Eskenazi's fiscal and utilization objectives; assure compliance with appropriate regulatory, accrediting and credentialing/privileging standards; and coordinate and participate in conversations between Eskenazi and IU Health/IUHP and IU School of Medicine subject matter experts on topics related to all three mission areas (clinical, education and research). They will model and uphold Eskenazi Health's mission, vision and PRIDE values and standards of behavior. The Executive Medical Director will report to the President-IU Health Physicians and Eskenazi Health Chief Medical Officer.

  • Requires current licensure as an MD/DO/MBBS to practice in the State of Indiana by the State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Must be Board Certified.
  • Requires current DEA certification.
  • Requires 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in leadership and management preferred. A physician executive with a minimum of three to five years of progressive leadership experience is preferred.
  • Must be an active member of the Medical Staff.
  • Requires a faculty appointment with Indiana University School of Medicine.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain current Eskenazi Health credentialing and privileging requirements.
