The IU Health Joe & Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center at IU Health North Hospital was built on our promise to offer unmatched cancer services and patient care close home to all under one roof. We bring together a diverse team of cancer experts including surgeons, oncologists, immunologists, nurses, nutritionists and social workers. Together, we can manage a patient’s whole health. We have services available for our patients in our adolescent and young adult center, integrative health area including cosmetology and music and art therapies, as well as our infusion and chemotherapy suite and same-day clinics. Duties for the Radiation Oncology RN at the Schwarz Cancer Center include, but are not limited to: Patient education; assist with patient consent; schedule treatment; create/maintain treatment calendar; controlled substance tracking; pain contract management; maintain vaccine records; monitor and refer for services such as psychology/psychiatry; palliative care; hospice and nutrition; manage medications/refills; and, symptom management.
The Radiation Oncology RN will work Monday-Friday, 8 am – 5 pm with no weekends, holidays or on-call. Types of cancers seen include medical oncology (breast, GI, GU, head and neck, Myeloma, Sarcoma and thoracic); surgical oncology (breast, gynecologic, orthopedic, otolaryngology, thoracic and urology). Services will include: IU School of Medicine research, adolescent and young adult program, genetics, high risk screening, integrated health, laboratory, nutrition, palliative care, PET/CT, pharmacy, precision genomics, psychology, radiation oncology, same-day clinic and social work.
The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
