Job Description

Overview

Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health North is a full service hospital located in Carmel, Indiana. Just a few miles from IU Health's downtown Indianapolis academic and research hospitals and Riley Hospital for Children, we serve the residents of the Indianapolis north side, Hamilton County and beyond.

At IU Health North, each and every team member is a caregiver. This care doesn't stop with our patients, it also extends to one another and our community through service projects, health initiatives and wellness education.

The Pediatric Acuity-Adaptable Unit at North Hospital is comprised of 11-inpatient beds. While the focus for our patients’ care is obstetric, we care for children with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses as well as critically ill children requiring ICU level of care including taking care of our patient’s complex medical, emotional, and social needs.

Our unit focuses on evidenced based care to ensure we are providing the best, most up to date care to our patients. Our unit is like a family…team work is our biggest strength. If you are adaptable, compassionate, and like working in a fast paced environment, we would love to meet you!

At least 1 year of RN experience preferred; experience in Peds ICU nursing a plus! Will consider new graduates with CNA/PCA experience. BSN preferred.

IU Health North - where care is a relationship, careers are meaningful, caregivers are friends, and service is our privilege. Won't you join us?

Schedule: part-time, rotating shift

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

We are committed to providing a comprehensive, personalized support system to new graduate nurses to help you transition to the role of professional nurse. Once hired to a department, alongside nursing orientation, all new graduate nurses in their first nursing role will have the opportunity to participate in a Nurse Residency Program called "Transition to IU Health Nursing Practice." The Nurse Residency program goals are to provide socialization and support, enhance clinical judgment, and promote professional development.

Safeguarding our patients and each other is an important part of how we deliver the best care possible to the communities we serve. As a condition of employment, IU Health requires all new hires to receive various vaccinations, including the influenza and COVID-19 vaccines, barring an approved exemption. New hires will also be provided the option to submit proof of previous vaccination. The COVID-19 vaccine is not required to begin employment; however, all team members need to be fully vaccinated by September 1, 2021.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity and inclusion at IU Health. IU Health does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, national origin, gender identity and/or expression, marital status or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.
