The Bloomington WIC building is located at 333 E Miller Drive in the Community Health Building. The WIC Nurse functions as a Certified Professional Authority (CPA) certifying WIC participants and providing nutrition education to non high-risk participants. The CPA completes a nutrition assessment and determination of nutrition risks at each certification as part of program eligibility screening. Uses standard procedures for performing all anthropometric measurements and hematologic assessments with all WIC participants. CPA will follow continuity of care by following up on participant progress from previous assessments before beginning each nutrition assessment.

The RN in this role will complete a general orientation at the State WIC office and will be willing to attend hospital and State WIC education programs.

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Requires current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
